Oh, I love Steve Lopez. I'm so impressed that you are now a literary judge -- I can't imagine anyone better! And speaking of Lopez, did you read his brilliant column this morning about the Polanski thing?

Elizabeth - Yes! And on the front page! I've never met him but from his writing I really like and admire him as a person.

Carol Perkins

Great ending to the PEN saga....All those lovely books whittled at last in this category to a wonderful work. You must feel a little as though you've participated in birthing this award, and the handsome, healthy baby is worth all the effort.

Carol - Yes - exactly!

Barbara, forgive me for posting this here, but I didn't want to post it on your brother's wedding! Because you have a lot of women reading & commenting on your blog, I wanted to let everyone know that October is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month. I've created a blog button for it & anyone who would like to use it on their own blog is welcome to: http://justdigginaround.blogspot.com/2009/10/october-is-domestic-violence-awareness.html

If you need help posting it, feel free to email me. (My email appears in the top left hand column at the end of my "About Me" section).

As a victim of domestic violences in my past, I feel at the very least, I need to get the word out during this month because there's so much focus on Breast Cancer Awareness - which I take nothing away from or have anything against as it runs in my family as well, but Domestic Violence Awareness Month is hardly mentioned (where I live, in the papers, on the news, etc) and Both Save Women's Lives! Whether I know it or not, if I end up helping just one Woman know she isn't alone, that she can survive & rebuild herself and her life, than my annual postings on my blog, various websites and emails to various tv people/shows is all worth it.

Thanks for the time Barbara!

Jo - You're more than welcome. That's inportant information to get out.

Thank you for being so gracious Barbara, as always!
