Loren Stephens

Hi Barbara. Sounds like you are going to have an idyllic summer. Send R best of luck for the exciting exhibition in Montana. I am struggling to finish my essay, "Night Train to Mombassa." Want to get it out to at least six literary journals before July 4. That is goal 1. My bigger and daunting goal is to begin working on the memoir of my two Japanese mothers in law. Right now I am waiting for transcripts from the interviews I did in Osaka. Found a bi-lingual Japanese/American priest to do the work. That's an essay in itself -- how we met, etc. Strange synchronicity. Next week going to the Santa Barbara Writers Conference to connect with some literary agents for my memoir.
Love getting your newsletter. Best, Loren

Kim

I signed up for the camp in Idyllwild months ago, I can't wait! After attending the creative arts day at UCLA last March, my goal is to have 7 pieces to send out by the end of the camp, I'm up to 5 or maybe 5 1/2, with no idea where the 7th one is going to start or go, it'll be an adventure.

Barbara

Loren - Have fun in Santa Barbara and start that memoir! Good luck with the essays too -

Kim - Looking forward to seeing you in Idyllwild and being part of the adventure of your 6th and 7th essay.

I have a question maybe you could help me with. I am used to writing on a computer. but I dont have a laptop. Do poets at idyllwild have access to computers on campus? Enough to go around?

Thank you!

Barbara

Hi Rick -

I'm not sure. Why don't you call the number above and ask? usually people in my classes use paper and pencil. Let me know what you find out.
